Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva presented Prime Minister’s Industry Award of 2009 for Best Productivity to Mr. Wit Viriyaprapaikit, Director and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. (SSI) and was welcomed by Mr. Win Viriyaprapaikit, President of SSI, during his visit to SSI’s Booth in the Presentation Ceremony of The Prime Minister Industry Award for the year 2009 on Tuesday 14 July 2009 at Santi Maitri Building, the Royal Thai Government House. The presentation was organized by the Ministry of Industry.

There are also 3 Companies in SSI Group of Companies received the award: West Coast Engineering Co.,Ltd. (WCE) received the Industry Award of 2009 for Best Quality Management; Thai Cold Rolled Steel Sheet Plc.(TCRSS) and Thai Coated Steel Sheet Co.,Ltd. received the Industry Award of 2009 for Best Energy Management.

นายอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ นายกรัฐมนตรี มอบรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่นประจำปี 2552 ประเภทการเพิ่มผลผลิตให้กับ นายวิทย์ วิริยประไพกิจ ประธานกรรมการบริหาร บริษัท สหวิริยาสตีลอินดัสตรี จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ เอสเอสไอ รวมทั้งเยี่ยมชมบูธนิทรรศการของเอสเอสไอ โดยมีนายวิน วิริยประไพกิจ กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ และคณะผู้บริหารร่วมให้การต้อนรับภายในงาน “พิธีมอบรางวัลอุตสาหกรรม ประจำปี 2552” ซึ่งจัดขึ้นโดยกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรม ณ ตึกสันติไมตรี ทำเนียบรัฐบาล

นอกจากนี้ยังมีบริษัทในกลุ่มเอสเอสไอที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกให้รับรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่นประจำปี 2552 อีก 3 บริษัท ได้แก่ บริษัท เวสท์โคสท์ เอ็นจิเนียริ่ง จำกัด (WCE) ได้รับรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น ประจำปี 2552 ประเภทการบริหารงานคุณภาพ บริษัท เหล็กแผ่นรีดเย็นไทย จำกัด (มหาชน) (TCRSS) และ บริษัท เหล็กแผ่นเคลือบไทย จำกัด (TCS) ได้รับรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น ประเภทการจัดการพลังงาน
