SSI received one more Outstanding Industrial Award on Logistics after the Company determines to become the innovative organization pursuant to the new vision – “Innovate premium value steel products and services for customer; generate consistent profit and sustainable value for stakeholders”. SSI said that it has clear logistics strategy, particularly the indicators, effective planning and integrated IT system. In addition, one of SSI’s affiliates, TCRSS, also received an award on Productivity.
Mr. Witoon Simachokdee, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry said that in order to present the Excellence Industrial Awards and Outstanding Industrial Awards for 2010, the Ministry undertook the processes by selecting the companies and plants of which their qualifications met criteria set by the Ministry of Industry with objectives to be morale support for the award wining companies and recognize them as good examples for other industrial operators regarding initiatives, diligence and dedication to create benefits for the country’s industrial development. For this year, 31 companies and plants have been selected, which classified into 1 Excellence Industrial Award and 30 Outstanding Industrial Awards. SSI Group of Companies won 2 Outstanding Industrial Awards, as follows:
1. Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Company Limited (SSI) won 2010 Outstanding Industrial Award on Logistics. Previously, SSI won Excellence Industrial Award in 2003, 3 Outstanding Industrial Awards on Productivity in 2000, 2005 and 2009. Moreover, SSI once received Environmental Conservation Awards in 2001 and 2008, Quality Management Awards in 2003 and 2007; Energy Management Award in 2006 and Safety Management Award in 2003.

2. Thai Cold Rolled Steel Sheet Public Company Limited (TCRSS) won 2010 Outstanding Industrial Award on Productivity. Before that, TCRSS received Outstanding Industrial Award on Energy Management in 1999, Environmental Conservation Award in 2007, Safety Management Award in 2008 and Quality Management Awards in 2003.
The selected companies shall receive awards from H.E. Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Prime Ministry during the Industrial Awards Presentation Ceremony which shall be held on 16 August 2010 at Santi Maitri Building, the Royal Thai Government House.

Mr. Win Viriyaprapaikit, President of SSI said that the 2010 Outstanding Industrial Award on Logistics presented to SSI is one of affirmative evidences to prove that SSI indeed follows the right way in complying with its mission on “Innovate premium value steel products and services for customer; generate consistent profit and sustainable value for stakeholders.” This award including other awards that SSI has been continually received was the results of having full support from the management team and employees at all levels with aims to achieve the potential development of steel industries successfully. Other elements included improvement and development of production technology to manufacture qualified products to, respond to the customers’ need; the operations on safety, occupational health and environment, energy saving, development of service systems to make them more conveniently and speedily and cover completed cycles, i.e. delivery, after sales service and engineering maintenance services, including the accelerating on personnel development.

“The main factors that made SSI received this Award on Logistics are: 1. SSI has clear logistics strategy in place with a directly responsible teamwork. SSI also has clear indicator method and conducts strategic review meeting on monthly basis and satisfactory evaluation system regularly. 2. SSI plans its logistics in advance by forecasting from historical data and the future data then follows the production plan accordingly. 3. Effective logistics process because SSI has system that can calculate efficiency and quality on product delivery, logistics cost, circulation of inventory, delivery period (lead time) and activities on logistics system improvement continually. Furthermore, SSI also has the effectively integrated information technology management system and SSI also always cooperates with other organizations on development on continued basis as well,” said the President.

SSI is Thailand’s first hot rolled coil manufacturer with maximum production capacity of 4 million tons per year and it has been recognized as the most modern and the largest plant in South East Asia. SSI is also the first industrial operator in Thailand that won the Prime Ministry Award on Excellence Industry in 2003. Additionally, on February 1, 2009, SSI can produce hot rolled coil up to 20 million tons, which is the first company in Thailand that can make this record. Lastly, this efficient logistics system can play a major role in enabling SSI to produce 689,831 tons in 1/2010 quarter with shipment of 679,049 tons. These production and shipment amounts are regarded as the highest on quarterly basis of the Company as well as the steel companies in Thailand. In 2010, SSI sets goal to produce hot rolled coil and deliver to the customers up to 2.7 million ton with sales volume of Baht 50,000 million.

เอสเอสไอเดินหน้าคว้าอีกรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่นด้านโลจิสติกส์ หลังมุ่งมั่นสู่องค์กรแห่งนวัตกรรมตามแนวทางวิสัยทัศน์ใหม่ “สร้างสรรค์นวัตกรรมผลิตภัณฑ์เหล็กและบริการที่มีมูลค่าเพิ่มกับลูกค้า สร้างกำไรสม่ำเสมอ สร้างผลตอบแทนแก่ผู้มีส่วนได้เสียอย่างยั่งยืน”เผยบริษัทมีกลุยทธด้านโลจิสติกส์ชัดเจนโดยเฉพาะตัวชี้วัด การวางแผนอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ พร้อมระบบไอทีเชื่อมโยง ด้านบริษัทในกลุ่มไม่น้อยหน้า เหล็กแผ่นรีดเย็นไทยคว้ารางวัลประเภทเพิ่มผลผลิต

นายวิฑูรย์ สิมะโชคดี ปลัดกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรม เปิดเผยว่าตามที่กระทรวงได้ดำเนินการคัดเลือกรางวัลอุตสาหกรรม ประจำปี 2553 โดยการประกวดคัดเลือก บริษัท โรงงานอุตสาหกรรม ที่มีคุณสมบัติตามหลักเกณฑ์ที่กระทรวงอุตสาหกรรมกำหนดเป็นอุตสาหกรรมยอดเยี่ยมและดีเด่น ประจำปี 2553 เพื่อเป็นกำลังใจ และยกย่องให้เป็นแบบอย่างที่ดีแก่ผู้ประกอบกิจการอุตสาหกรรมรายอื่น ในการมีความคิดริเริ่ม ความวิริยะอุตสาหะ มุ่งสร้างสรรค์สิ่งที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมของประเทศนั้น มีบริษัทและโรงงานที่ได้รับการพิจาณาคัดเลือก 31 ราย แบ่งเป็นรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมยอดเยี่ยม 1 ราย และรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น 30 ราย ทั้งนี้มีบริษัทในกลุ่มเอสเอสไอที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกให้รับรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น 2 บริษัท ได้แก่

1. บริษัท สหวิริยาสตีลอินดัสตรี จำกัด (มหาชน) (SSI) ได้รับรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น ประจำปี 2553 ประเภทการจัดการโล จิสติกส์ ซึ่งก่อนหน้านี้บริษัทเคยได้รับรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมยอดเยี่ยม เมื่อปี 2546 และรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น ประเภทการเพิ่มผลผลิต 3 ครั้ง เมื่อปี 2543 2548 และ 2552 นอกจากนี้ยังมีรางวัลด้านการรักษาคุณภาพสิ่งแวดล้อม ปี 2544 และ 2551 รางวัลด้านการบริหารงานคุณภาพ ปี 2545 และ 2550 รางวัลด้านการจัดการพลังงาน ปี 2549 และรางวัลด้านการบริหารความปลอดภัย ปี 2546

2. บริษัท เหล็กแผ่นรีดเย็นไทย จำกัด (มหาชน) (TCRSS) ได้รับรางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น ประจำปี 2553 ประเภทการเพิ่มผลผลิต ซึ่งก่อนหน้านี้บริษัทเคยได้รับ รางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น ประเภทการจัดการพลังงาน ในปี 2552 และเคยได้รับรางวัลด้านการรักษาคุณภาพสิ่งแวดล้อม ปี 2550 รางวัลด้านการบริหารความปลอดภัย ปี 2551 รวมถึงการบริหารงานคุณภาพ ปี 2546
สำหรับผู้ที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกจะเข้ารับรางวัลจาก ฯพณฯ นายอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ นายกรัฐมนตรี ในพิธีมอบรางวัลที่จะจัดขึ้นในวันที่ 16 สิงหาคม 2553 ณ ตึกสันติไมตรี ทำเนียบรัฐบาล

นายวิน วิริยประไพกิจ กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่ บริษัท สหวิริยาสตีลอินดัสตรี จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ เอสเอสไอ เปิดเผยว่า รางวัลอุตสาหกรรมดีเด่น ประเภทการจัดการโลจิสติกส์ ประจำปี 2553 ที่เอสเอสไอได้รับนี้ เป็นอีกสิ่งหนึ่งที่ยืนยันถึงแนวทางการดำเนินการตามวิสัยทัศน์ของเอสเอสไอ คือ “สร้างสรรค์นวัตกรรมผลิตภัณฑ์เหล็กและบริการที่มีมูลค่าเพิ่มกับลูกค้า สร้างกำไรสม่ำเสมอ สร้างผลตอบแทนแก่ผู้มีส่วนได้เสียอย่างยั่งยืน” นั้นเป็นแนวทางที่ถูกต้อง เมื่อผนวกรวมกับการสนับสนุนอย่างเต็มกำลังของกลุ่มผู้บริหารและพนักงานทุกระดับเพื่อการพัฒนาศักยภาพการดำเนินธุรกิจอุตสาหกรรมเหล็กให้ประสบความสำเร็จ ทั้งการปรับปรุงและพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีการผลิตเพื่อได้ผลิตภัณฑ์ที่มีคุณภาพตอบสนองต่อความต้องการของลูกค้า การดำเนินการด้านความปลอดภัย อาชีวอนามัยและสิ่งแวดล้อม การประหยัดพลังงาน การพัฒนารูปแบบการบริการให้สะดวกรวดเร็วครอบคลุมครบวงจร ทั้งการจัดส่ง การบริการหลังการขาย และการให้บริการด้านวิศกรรมซ่อมบำรุงที่ครบวงจร รวมถึงการเร่งพัฒนาบุคลากร ส่งผลให้เอสเอสไอได้รับการคัดเลือกให้ได้รับรางวัลด้านต่างๆ จากหน่วยงานภาครัฐ และเอกชนในระดับประเทศมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง

“ปัจจัยสำคัญที่ทำให้เอสเอสไอได้รับรางวัลด้านโลจิสติกส์ คือ 1. บริษัทมีการกำหนดกลยุทธ์ ด้านโลจิสติกส์ที่ชัดเจน โดยมีหน่วยงานที่รับผิดชอบโดยตรงเป็นทีม กำหนดตัวชี้วัดที่ชัดเจน ประชุมทบทวนแผนกลยุทธ์ทุกเดือน และระบบประเมินความพึงพอใจของลูกค้าเป็นประจำ 2. บริษัทวางแผนงานทางด้านโลจิสติกส์ได้ล่วงหน้า โดยมีการพยากรณ์ จากข้อมูลในอดีตจนถึงอนาคต และวางแผนผลิตให้สอดคล้องกัน 3. กระบวนการโลจิสติกส์ที่มีประสิทธิภาพ โดยบริษัทมีระบบที่สามารถคำนวณหาประสิทธิภาพและคุณภาพจัดส่งสินค้า ต้นทุนโลจิสติกส์ อัตราหมุนเวียนสินค้าคงคลัง ระยะเวลาในการส่งมอบ และกิจกรรมปรับปรุงโลจิสติกส์อย่างต่อเนื่อง นอกจากนี้ บริษัทยังมีระบบบริหารข้อมูลระบบเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศที่เชื่อมโยงข้อมูลถึงกันที่มีประสิทธิภาพ เช่นเดียวกันกับความร่วมมือกับองค์กรอื่นๆในการพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่องอีกด้วย” กรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่กล่าว

เอสเอสไอเป็นผู้ผลิตเหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนชนิดม้วนรายแรกของไทย ด้วยกำลังการผลิตสูงสุด 4 ล้านตันต่อปี ซึ่งได้รับการยอมรับให้เป็นโรงงานที่ทันสมัยและใหญ่ที่สุดในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และเป็นผู้ประกอบการอุตสาหกรรมรายแรกของประเทศที่ได้รับรางวัล ฯพณฯ นายกรัฐมนตรี อุตสาหกรรมยอดเยี่ยม ในปี 2546 และเมื่อวันที่ 1 กุมภาพันธ์ 2552 เอสเอสไอสามารถผลิตเหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนชนิดม้วนได้ครบ 20 ล้านตัน เป็นรายแรกของไทยอีกด้วย ล่าสุดด้วยระบบโลจิสติกส์ที่มีประสิทธิภาพได้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งที่ส่งผลให้ไตรมาส 1/2553 บริษัทสามารถผลิตเหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนได้ทั้งสิ้น 689,831 ตัน และมีปริมาณส่งมอบผลิตภัณฑ์ 679,049 ตัน ซึ่งเป็นปริมาณการผลิตและส่งมอบผลิตภัณฑ์รายไตรมาสสูงสุดของบริษัทและของบริษัทเหล็กในประเทศไทย ทั้งนี้ ในปี 2553 เอสเอสไอตั้งเป้าหมายการผลิตเหล็กแผ่นรีดร้อนและส่งมอบให้กับลูกค้า 2.7 ล้านตัน และมียอดขาย 50,000 ล้านบาท
